Chad Reed Withdrawals from the 2012 AMA Supercross Series

In what is probably the most disappointing news of the season, Chad Reed (Two Two Motorsports) was forced to withdrawal from the 2012 AMA Monster Energy Supercross series.  This is a devastating blow for the Two Two motorsports team that was battling for a championship.

On Lap 7 of the Dallas Supercross race Reed was putting pressure on Ryan Villopoto for the leap when it looked like he hit a kicker that threw him over the bars.  In a crash that didn’t look nearly as bad as a few of his others recently, it sure did some damage.

Early scan show that Reed tore his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) as well as a broken tibia and fibula.  But that’s not all, it also revealed Reed suffered 2 broken ribs and a broken T6 vertebrae.  Reed has to wait for the swelling to subside in his knee before surgery could be performed.

Reed seemed to be the most poised to knock the defending Champion Ryan Villopoto from his throne, but he will instead focus on recovery.  For people who have gone through ACL rehabilitation, they well know that the recovery time is extensive.  Doctors will reevaluate his prognoses after surgery.

Good luck Chad, we hope you heal in time for the outdoor!

Round 4 – AMA Supercross Race Results Oakland

The air is chilly, riders are walking around with jackets on.  The dirt here in Oakland is very nice, but it is apparent after practice and early qualifying, that it is soft.  I have a feeling by the end of the night the track will get rutted up on the jumps and through the whoops.  We’ll see as the night gets underway, there is quite a crowd in Oakland.
